#MedinaMemory: How owner Robbie Kane met his wife, Medina

Every great romance has an auspicious beginning. A chance meeting. A sideways glance. A certain spark that lights the flame. In the case of Café Medina owner Robbie Kane, it was equal parts fate, serendipity and pure kismet that led him to find the love of his life in the most likely of places — his own restaurant.  

It was back in 2008, shortly after Robbie opened the doors of Café Medina in its original Crosstown location that his great romance began.

Shake Things Up With New Signature Cocktails from Café Medina

We’re giving guests a whole new reason to visit with the launch of our new lineup of signature cocktails by Bar Manager Trixie Blümel, as well as weekday "Golden Hour" happy hour features.

With handcrafted syrups and infusions, distinctive garnishes and fresh-squeezed juices, our cocktails are every bit as true to the Mediterranean flavours that have defined our trademark eclectic cuisine since 2008.

During Golden Hour from 2 – 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, guests can enjoy all of our enlightened libations for $7, along with local draught beer for $5.

Café Medina and Mealshare host Waffle Breakfast with Mission Possible

On this year's International Waffle Day on March 25, Café Medina was honoured to partner with local charity Mission Possible through the Mealshare program. For every one of our signature Belgian Liège waffles ordered that day, we pledged to feed one person in need in our community. 

On June 16, Café Medina and Mealshare organized a special waffle breakfast at the Mission Possible headquarters in the Downtown Eastside, sharing hundreds of our Liége waffles with those less fortunate.

Café Medina at the EAT! Vancouver Food Festival 

Fermentation Workshop

SOLD OUT — Join Chef Jonathan as he leads a fermentation master class on April 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. during the EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival.

Fermentation, an age-old food preservation technique used by cultures around the world, is now making a comeback in modern Western cuisine. Participants will sample fermented food and drink, while learning about the history and nutritional benefits of fermentation and picking up some fermentation techniques to apply at home. Tickets to the event are limited to only 25 guests and cost $45 each plus tax.
